LSD helps prevent wheel spin by limiting the speed difference between left and right wheels, improving traction in high-performance or low-grip situations.

🔧 1. Clutch-Type LSD

  • How it works: Uses clutch plates to transfer torque between wheels.
  • Pros: Great traction, adjustable preload/tuning, ideal for racing/drifting.
  • Cons: Can wear over time, needs maintenance (friction plates).
  • Feel: Aggressive locking during corner exit and hard acceleration.

🔩 2. Torsen (Torque-Sensing) LSD

  • How it works: Uses helical gears to sense torque difference and shift power.
  • Pros: Smooth operation, no clutch plates to wear, maintenance-free.
  • Cons: Less effective when one wheel loses all traction (e.g., airborne).
  • Feel: Natural and progressive torque transfer, good for street/track.

⚙️ 3. Open Differential (for comparison)

  • How it works: Sends power to the wheel with least resistance.
  • Cons: Poor traction under hard acceleration or uneven grip (wheel spin).

So i did some OEM catalogues research on open diffs that all those boxes uses same open diff
