'''LSD''' helps prevent wheel spin by limiting the speed difference between left and right wheels, improving traction in high-performance or low-grip situations.

=== 🔧 1. Clutch-Type LSD ===

* '''How it works''': Uses clutch plates to transfer torque between wheels.
* '''Pros''': Great traction, adjustable preload/tuning, ideal for racing/drifting.
* '''Cons''': Can wear over time, needs maintenance (friction plates).
* '''Feel''': Aggressive locking during corner exit and hard acceleration.

=== 🔩 2. Torsen (Torque-Sensing) LSD ===

* '''How it works''': Uses helical gears to sense torque difference and shift power.
* '''Pros''': Smooth operation, no clutch plates to wear, maintenance-free.
* '''Cons''': Less effective when one wheel loses all traction (e.g., airborne).
* '''Feel''': Natural and progressive torque transfer, good for street/track.

=== ⚙️ 3. Open Differential (for comparison) ===

* '''How it works''': Sends power to the wheel with least resistance.
* '''Cons''': Poor traction under hard acceleration or uneven grip (wheel spin).

As Colt's, Lancer's, Mirage's getting old and not much spare new or used parts available decided to swap rear trailing arms from newer cars.

This came to research that it's possible to use '''Carisma 1 generation, restyling 10.1997 - 10.1999''' and '''Mitsubishi Space Star 1999–2005''' rear trailing arms.

From first look they look similar but have stronger architecture and are easier to find used.

As i was working on Colt CA4A 1991-1995 that had rusted arms and swapped to newer Space Star 1999–2005 arms, Carisma shares sames arms only, did not found any other MMC car that would use these arms.

The difference in situation i got is that Colt was swapped to rear drum brakes from disks, and Colt uses 4x100 lug pattern, and Space Star's and Carisma's mostly 4x114.3 but on my research there where some of them in some markets that was using 4x100.

In short: everything is bolt on, no welding cutting. Just need to use correct parts, that wont mount on this trailing arm, is Wheel hub bearing, as there where two different ones, with 28mm center hole, and 30mm center hole. These trailing arms uses 30mm so if 4x114.3 no works on bearing, if 4x100 then there is need of proper bearing with hub. Second part is upper straight longer arm, will not fit, as carisma and space star has it longer.

This trailing arm swap does not fit AWD as it's only FWD cars.
The Space Star/Carisma rear trailing arms has slightly bigger bent overall and different upper arm bolt hole spot, tried to measure if they change the wheel place but it stays in same place as in Colt, so they don't change wheel alignment of car they are swapped to.
Now going to compare the upper longer arms as these ones are different in length.
So after all when trailing arms with upper lower arms are in place, as seen wheel hub bearing don't mounts on 30mm as it's for 28mm. After researching found that there where MMC models that run 30mm hubs with 4x100 bolt pattern, so here what i got to complete this.

OEM codes of hubs(different car part catalogs show differently) but thsese ones leads to correct ones:

*MB809577 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
*MR403728 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
*MB844220 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
*MR493619 — MITSUBISHI 30 x123 not all
*MR527452 — MITSUBISHI 30 x123 not all

and here are the codes of not OEM parts that fits this 30mm with 4x100 for drum brakes.

*OPTIMAL 952279 Hub assy set 30 x125
*FEBEST 0482-CKR Hub assy set 30 x125 ?
*FEBEST 0482-CSA43R Hub assy set ?

So once done i realized that this is only difference here between these type of suspensions MMS uses.

Yes there are FTO that runs with 5x114.3 that this might not work.

But from what i experienced doing this swap it's way more better to bolt on this rear trailing arms as they have more play to top and down, so for rally setups it's better.

* MB809577 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
* MR403728 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
* MB844220 — MITSUBISHI 4x100 30x125 drum/disc
* MR493619 — MITSUBISHI 30 x123 not all
* MR527452 — MITSUBISHI 30 x123 not all

and here are the codes of not OEM parts that fits this 30mm with 4x100 for drum brakes.

* OPTIMAL 952279 Hub assy set 30 x125
* OPTIMAL 952280 Hub assy set 30 x123
* KAVO PARTS WBH-5507 Hub assy set 30 x125
* KAVO PARTS WBH-5508 Hub assy set 30 x123
* BTA H25032BTA Hub assy set 30 x125
* ESEN SKV 29SKV512 Hub assy set 30 x123
* FLENNOR FR941168 Hub assy set 30 x123
* SNR R173.49 Hub assy set 30 x128
* GSP 9230043K Hub assy set 30 x123
* NK 763026 Hub assy set 30 x123
* FEBEST 0482-CKR Hub assy set 30 x125 ?
* FEBEST 0482-CSA43R Hub assy set ?
